Bioprocess controller BIO-3
We use in our bioreactors bioprocess controller BIO - 3. Bio - is flexible controller, which is easy customized for different fermentations and bioreactors (also produced by another companies).
The controller has to design versions:
- In plastic cabinet (produced by Bopla);
- In stainless steel cabinet (produces by Rittal).
As well the customer selected design version is possible.
Bioprocess controller BIO-3 ensures:
- Available control loops in the Basic version are: temperature, pH, pO2, foam and sterilization in situ. Additionally in the advanced version: cascade control for pO2 (n, air, O2, N2, p); pH (acid/ base, base/CO2), foam (mechanical, chemical, mech./chem.), weight and level, as well as other possibilities according to customer's needs;
- The possibility to carry out time dependent feeding profiles;
- Cascade control of pH, pO2 and foam (optionally). The possibility to select the cascade sequence between the following pO2 controls ways:
- Stirrer rotational speed n;
- Air flow Q;
- Oxygen enrichment O2;
- Substrate feeding Ps;
- Gas mixing (O2, Nr, air);
- Overpressure p.
- Flexibility is achieved by using a Basic programmable microcomputer, which gives the possibility easy to customize the controller program;
- 256 color 5.6'' touch screen display makes the user service intuitive and attractive;
- Data exchange with PC visualization program (SCADA) using industry standard MODBUS protocol Bioprocess controller BIO-3 can be interfaced practically with every SCAD by using ours developed OPC server;
- Possibility to easy update the controller program by downloading the latest version directly from a PC to the controller through RS 232 serial port.
We have an experience by connecting our BIO-3 with bioreactors of different manufacturers, as well by solving non-standard tasks. For example, based on BIO-3 was developed and realized algorithm of temperature control via substrate feeding. In this case BIO-3 was connected with a 2 L bioreactor BIOSTAT. (See publication: J. Vanags, M. Rychtera, S. Ferzik, M. Vishkin, U. Viesturs. Oxygen and temperature control during the cultivation of microorganisms using substrate feeding. Eng.Life Sci, 2007, 7, No.3, 247-252).
